Our Pomegranates

Since ancient times, the pomegranate has enjoyed a place of prominence in Israel.  One of the seven species of fruit and grains of the land of Israel enumerated in the Hebrew Bible, to this day the pomegranate is an indispensable fruit on every Rosh HaShana table as its sweet juice symbolizes the hope for a sweet new year.  Hebrew love songs and poetry routinely use the pomegranate as a metaphor for beauty and fertility, perhaps most famously in this verse from the Songs of Solomon likening his lover's countenance to pomegranates some 2000 years ago: "Thy lips are like a thread of scarlet, and thy speech is comely: thy temples are like a piece of a pomegranate within thy locks."

In present day Israel, pomegranate orchards adorn not only the fertile hills in the north and valleys of the heartland, but through the wonders of Israeli agricultural technology, even spots of the Negev desert bordering the Sinai Penisula through which the Jews first entered the promised land.  BeeRRimon uses the delicious and potent juice from these Negev pomegranates in our beers.

We warmly invite you to enjoy BeeRRimon and join us in helping to realize the dream of making the desert bloom!
